There are many people involved in the running of The Gate, but these are some of the key individuals:
John is a founder director of The Gate. He has been at the forefront of social investment for 20 years, and has set up a mutual society to fund a sustainable forestry project in Bolivia (www.cochabamba.coop), an impact investing service (www.madinvesting.com) and is a director of Ethical Money Ltd. John is a keen adventurer who loves exploring, both on his own and with his son. He is a member of St. Thomas’ Church Kendal.
Jonathan currently leads the team at Manna House. He is a prominent local councillor, and was Mayor of Kendal 2011/12, and perhaps more unusually, played Jesus in the Easter 2012 passion play. Jonathan is responsible for the operation of the cafe and looks forward to spending some time meeting some of you over a coffee.
Marc was the initiator of the catering business at Manna House and of the training programme for clients. He reaches out to those who have fallen on hard times, and founded the Step by Step programme for rehabilitating ex offenders, drug addicts and alcoholics. Marc is also a trained chef, having run his own catering business in previous years.
Pete is the person who transformed the building from what was Pauline's Casuals to its current state. He runs his own property development company, Grassgarth Properties. Pete is also a member of St. Thomas’ Church and has a heart for supporting those with troubles, whether that be ill health, monetary or relationships.
