Bamboo Study Tour to SichuanTuesday 22nd November 2011
In 2008 5 million people were displaced in Sichuan, Eastern China. In 2011 John Fleetwood was fortunate enough to participate in a study tour to explore the potential for the bamboo industry in regenerating the area.
Although the tour didn't prove to be terribly useful from a business perspective, it offered a real insight into life in rural and urban China, where young Chinese subscribe to the American dream and are very entrepreneurial. It was also refreshing to escape from the economic doom and gloom of the UK to a place where new opportunities are emerging.
